Love is in the Air.

This is the time of year when most Wisconsin-ites begin to get a little crazy. The cold, the wind, the snow… uhg, the ice scraping and the shoveling. Miserable. Every year this time, I ponder of why I actually continue to live here. All it would take is to pack up our things and we could settle somewhere where we would see the sun for more than 5 months out of the year.

But if there is one thing that the cold does do for us, well, it brings us closer to the ones we love! Cozy fireplaces and cuddling under thick knitted blankies, comfort food galore, and of course, some good movie/couch time! So, when all else in the world seems to be frozen over, grab a glass of wine and get cuddled up with the ones you love. So here’s to you babe!

bea.U.tiful.

I have always believed that women are most beautiful when they are closest to their natural state. I am certainly not implying that we should all roll out of bed and show up at work. And on your wedding day, please don’t go without some mascara to really accentuate those beautiful eyes! Having worked my way through college by being a beauty consultant at Ulta, I can honestly say that I have tried A LOT of products. There are some that will hide almost anything. And there are some that, even when applied in appropriate amounts, will NEVER look natural. So, over time, I have been continuously seeking out the products that will most NATURALLY bring out beauty. So if you are seeking a  natural look for your wedding day, or simply looking for everyday products, here are my tried and true! Happy powdering ladies!

1. Bare Minerals Blush. This blush goes on oh-so softly with my urban decay blush brush. I always choose a variety of colors so that I can change my color as my skin tone lightens in winter and deepens in summer. It blends beautifully with most skin tones and is very natural in appearance. Colors are as follows: frisky (top left), blush pearl (bottom left), and the last is a dual palette of joyous jennifer and sorbet (middle right).

2. Urban Decay’s NAKED Skin Beauty Balm. I use this INSTEAD OF a foundation or concealer. I use it as both. Sometimes I just need a dab to cover an uneven skin spot, and sometimes I use it on my whole face as a soft, natural, very light coverage foundation. It does have SPF 20 for beautiful skin that will last as you age!IMG_8245

3. Crabtree and Evelyn. For the world’s softest hands ever! And it smells so good! I love Avocado olive and basil, but there are many fragrances.

4. Urban Decay Naked 3 Eye Shadow Palette. These beautiful neutral tones are PERFECT. I will never buy another palette. There isn’t a single color that I would need other than these gorgeous natural tones. A little pricey, but totally worth the splurge!

5. Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Hairspray. This is for a light natural hold. This stuff will not stiffen your hair or hold it through a blizzard. It is meant to give your hair some natural lift and volume and to make your hair look beautiful as it blows in the breeze.

6. Mary Kay Timewise Age-Fighting Moisturizer. I got SOO hooked on this stuff because my mom sells Mary Kay, but it is incredible. My face is so soft and well nourished! I use the combination to oily, but I don’t really have oily skin. I also use the Mary Kay Timewise Age-Fighting cleanser each morning and night to keep my skin clear.IMG_8253

7. Essie Polish. This is the color Fiji and it looks so chic on fingers or toes! Sooo pretty and feminine. It is a very natural color because it is so light and can be used for any event! Looks beautiful for spring and summer weddings, or on your toes as they plunge into white sand on spring break!IMG_8259

8. L’oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes. This stuff is $8 at walmart and works better than ANY big brand I have tried (and I have tried most!). I usually use two coats because this stuff is made to lengthen your lashes, so after the first coat dries, smooth on a second coat to really see some added length!

9. Hemps Body Lotion. All I can say is that healthy soft skin goes a long way! This stuff smells incredible. I put it on my entire body every morning and my skin is noticeably softer. I couldn’t go a day without this in my morning routine.

All products posted above are items that I use regularly and have for some time now. Please remember that everyone has unique skin and you should be cautious when trying new products until you know how your body and skin reacts. Remember- be-U-atiful!

Featured Piece of the Week. Antique Globe.

This is a globe from the 1900’s. The globe is a faded shade of a typical blue green globe- which makes it totally dreamy! And the base is wrought iron and has an intricate design on it. I actually bought this piece because I wanted it for decor in my house, but when it arrived, I realized how AMAZING it would be as decor for a wedding. Having a travel or long distance themed wedding? This piece is PERFECT for you! I have always thought that each piece that makes it to your wedding day should represent something personal about your relationship with your loved one. If you have had a long distance relationship, this piece is sooo fantastic. Or, maybe you met your sweetie in Rome and have travelled together ever since? You can’t go without this one!a

It is rather large and fragile, so please plan to handle with care! The photo was taken by The Junk Haus.

Featured Piece of the Week. Antique Typewriter.

I am SOOO pumped to share this whimsical piece with you! I found this treasure about a week ago and I couldn’t WAIT to share it! This is an antique Underwood Typewriter. It has a few bent keys, but most of them actually work! I personally think the few bent keys actually add to its’ character! This sweet typewriter is adorable for engagement photos as a prop, or as a decor piece to give a table some major charm! Contact me here for a price quote!

Fur Vest and Stripes.

This winter has been particularly brutal, even for a Wi winter. The last week has been -25 degree wind chills for 5 days straight. Why do I live here again? Oh right- so I can wear FUR vests!! On Saturday, we FINALLY got a day above zero so we just HAD to sneek out for some quick pics by Oconomowoc Lake. It was actually very serene with a group of young kids playing hockey on the ice and people inside Roots Cafe sipping their cozy beverages by the warm fireplaces. And- a major bonus- my lil’ sis was home for the weekend to partake in the photoshoot fun! This fur vest is sure to keep you warm this time of year, and of course, looking chic! I paired it with simple black pants, boots, and one of my go-to striped shirts (this one is particularly soft from Banana Republic). These fur vests have actually been in style for about 2-3 years now, so this cozy piece has quickly become a winter closet staple! And don’t forget- a statement necklace with some color goes a long way to spruce up winter grays!

All photos were taken by my loving husband! Yes, he got major points for taking crazy me and my sis out in the cold! The black pants and the handbag are from New York and Company. The soft striped shirt is from Banana Republic. The fur vest is from The Limited. The dainty ring (totally necessary!) is from Francesca’s. The orange necklace is a Lia Sophia necklace that I got ages ago, but any bright necklace works great with grays and blacks!

J Crew PERFECTION.

“All I want for Christmas is you.” The words to the infamous song by Mariah Carey perfectly depict my feelings towards this J Crew coat. This was my Christmas present from my mom and I couldn’t love it more! It is so girly, feminine, warm, and most importantly, HIGH QUALITY. It is silk lined and couldn’t be more fabulous. The gray is a soft, chic tone that looks good even with my pasty-white-it’s-winter-in-wisconsin skin. I have received more compliments on this jacket in the last two weeks than any single item in my wardrobe combined! I KNOW you’re going to LOVE IT! Pair it with this chic handbag from New York and Company and your favorite boots for an effortless look!

All photos are taken by my dreamy man! He was such a good sport out in the cold and snow! This incredible jacket is from J Crew. Boots are Ralph Lauren’s. Purse is from New York and Company. Jeans are from The Loft.

My FAV Healthy Oatmeal.

Well, the new year has begun! Wahooo for 2015! Many people set a new year’s resolution that entails something along the lines of getting fit, losing weight, eating clean, etc., etc. With that being said, I thought this was the PERFECT time to share the PERFECT,  HEALTHY, and YUMMY-est oatmeal ever! I have been eating this all winter break and I am still not sick of it. Not only will this help you shed those pounds and eat clean, but it is so warm that it will curb the cravings you have for comfort food during these bitterly cold winter months. You MUST try this out. It has only 5 ingredients so it is easy-peasy!

Ingredients: (to make 1 serving)

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup of old fashioned raw oats

1 teaspoon brown sugar

1/2 banana

4-5 raw shelled walnuts

Directions:

Cut the banana into small quarter sized slices. Boil the water on the stovetop. Add the oats, stirring immediately. Turn down the heat to low right away. Allow it to simmer with the lid on until the water is soaked up, stirring occasionally.  Add 1/2 of the banana and a few walnuts to the oats. Sprinkle on the brown sugar and stir it up! Vwa-la- Yummo!

IMG_7892IMG_7894IMG_7896 IMG_7887IMG_7897 IMG_7901 IMG_7902 IMG_7904Even the puppy wants a bite! 🙂 Enjoy and be well!

All photos are taken in my kitchen- all but the last are taken by me. The last one is taken by my sweetums!

Sweet Lace and a Lil’ Bling to Ring in the New Year.

This was our first New Year’s Eve as a married couple and I must say, we definitely lived up to the married couple cliche as we brought on the new year! Our evening was filled with family, pizza, a cozy fireplace, and of course several Red Box rentals! To be honest, there is nothing I would rather do on New Year’s Eve than sit in my own living room and cuddle up to comfort food and movies (and of course my sweetie!). Some call it lame, I call it content.

But no matter what you consider a great way to ring in the new year, we all like to look a little pretty, so here’s what I would wear! This adorable lace top is soooo sweet and romantic. It breaks the navy and black fashion rules, but it feels SO RIGHT! And because it’s New Year’s Eve, you have to add in some bling- why not this AMAZING necklace from the Loft! I paired it with simple dark wash jeans and my favorite pair of black patent leather pumps! Goes great with my favorite glass of red wine and it’s perfect for whatever your plans are!
