Spring Blooms.

I might be a little on the early side with my spring floral post, but the fact that the groundhog bit the mayor this year makes me think that he might not be quite as credible as everyone seems to think- I mean who decided that a rodent should be the one who gets to predict when spring comes anyway?! I am getting my house ready now in hopes of an early spring! Here are the blooms that I am putting in my house this spring to brighten things up!

1. All White!

I LOVE how fresh and bright these lovely whites are! They go great on a coffee table, in a kitchen, or even on a nightstand! Very versatile! And it even has fake water in the bottom so it is totally puppy or childproof! It was made with what I can only assume is a white peony. But this same style would be absolutely lovely with white tulips (probably my next addition!).

2. Fresh Blush Tones!

This is an arrangement I made from florals at Ben Franklin’s. I basically picked a color theme (pinks!) and went into the store and picked out a bunch of flowers with different sizes and textures. When I got home, I picked at them for a bit to get them into an arrangement I liked (I used a triangle pattern with the blush colored roses). I popped them into an oversized mason jar and vwa-la- Super simple and romantic!IMG_8751IMG_8741

3 . Brights!

Spring wouldn’t be spring without some bright pops of color! I adore these fuschia peonies because they are so large that you really only need to buy 4 or 5 (depending on your vase size) to fill a vase. Very economical and will bring that bright pop to any room! Goes great on a desk or other small table! And it would look dashing with yellow tulips or sunflowers if you are not a pink person!

The Unexpected Photos Are My Fav.

If there is one thing I have learned in my short time dabbling in photography, it is that the best shots come along at random. At times I drag my camera along with me and find absolutely nothing worth shooting, but other times, it just so happens that I catch a hidden jem. Sometimes, the most insignificant picture, that most people may have never lifted their camera for, turns out to be one of my absolute favs! In fact, I would say there are many pictures that I have taken that make me smile simply because they are so quirky and unexpectedly beautiful. Here is a small collection of those moments from the past 6 months or so. The next time you think about leaving your camera at home- remember to expect the unexpected!

The Simple Things. Peonies and Ranunculus.

When I started this blog, several months ago, I committed myself to writing about the things I love. However simple or seemingly insignificant. It is easy to get sucked into the drawl of life at times. This post is inspired by one of those moments that happened recently that really snapped me out of it. I had just gotten home from work and it was a longggg week. I was rambling on about some story about something that felt important at the time. Ryley had dinner on the stove and I was rambling and getting things ready for dinner; multi-tasking per usual. Picking up odds and ends off our island, getting plates out, etc. I had my hands full of plates, cups, silverware and I continued to ramble as I turned around to head for the table when I saw them. Delicate, natural, and beautiful. My loving husband had purchased flowers for me. And not just any flowers from the pick n save florist- these were the most special flowers. These are my favorite flowers; the ones that I had hand selected for our wedding day. I was so taken aback by this kind gesture that for days I touched them, smelled them, and photographed them. So today I leave you with this; sometimes it’s the simple things.

The photos are taken by my loving husband (and some by me too), who is also the one that got me these lovely flowers! The sweet pink shirt is from Anthropology. The necklace is from Forever 21. Jeans are from The Loft. The pink loafers are Steve Maddens.

1. What made you set up your blog?

I feel a blog is really no different than a diary- just a little more modern. A few years ago, I moved out of my parents’ house and into a tiny one-bedroom apartment with my now husband. In the process of the move, I cleaned out all the plastic storage totes that my mom had been saving in the basement for me for years. I happened upon my childhood diary. When I opened it up, and began reading the entries, I was shocked at what I found.

Insignificance. Or what would appear as insignificance. That is what I found. My entries were about things as insignificant as going to schlotzsky’s deli for lunch with my mom. Or feeling the tickle of my gerbil in my hands. Or my sister building the best barbie castle ever. As a child, these were clearly worthy of taking the time to write a diary entry about. These simple insignificant things were significant. When I reflect back now, I realize the wisdom that I have lost as I have grown. When I was young, I knew that simple daily events were what made life beautiful. I never want to lose sight of that. So why a blog? To remind myself of the beauty of simple. The beauty of an ordinary day.

2. You cover a lot of topics that are hot in the news? what about these stories catches your eye?

The answer to this, in my eyes,is simple. Passion. I write about things that I love and things that I think others might love.

3. My blog is all about sex and dating, have you ever had a funny dating story?

Funny dating story… ahh the memories are flooding my mind… Most of my dating stories take place in college where I had 3 female roommates. My roommates loved to meet and talk to the people that I went on dates with so they could decide whether to give the stamp of approval or not. This one man pulled up to the curb outside our house in a blizzard and honked the horn. DIDN’T even come to the door! Needless to say, I didn’t come out. Call me old fashioned, but I do love to be courted.

4. What is your get-up-and-go song? The one that gets you moving?

No judging- Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance.

5. Do you have a favorite blog that you read all the time?

I just can’t get enough of Style Me Pretty. I adore their wedding posts and interior design posts!

6. Who is your inspiration?

Julia Hengel from Gal Meets Glam. She is lucky enough to have her blog be her lifestyle. I would love to be able to travel and see the world while doing what I love to do creatively.

7. What is your favorite color?

Pink- for sure.

8. Do you have a favorite post that you have written?

Hmmm. Tough one. I have two posts that I love! They both take me back to summer, so here they are!!

Perfect Black Lace Dress & Ladies Love Lace.

9. What is a day like in the life of Quite Adored?

Every day starts off for me at 5:00 with my workout! I get ready and leave for work by 6:00. I teach 120 6th and 7th graders all day (if I can keep up with them!) and usually get home around 4:00 or 4:30. Since I make all of our meals for the week on Sundays, I just have to heat things up when I get home, which is great because Ry and I are usually STARVING! We eat and then we will go for a walk outside if it is nice weather. If not, we are total Friends freaks, so we will watch that or one of our fav shows! Around 9:00 we head up to lay in bed and wind down for the night. And repeat.

10. What would you like to say to new bloggers just starting out?

Well, since I just started my blog not too long ago (about 6 months), I would say don’t be too hard on yourself. I am doing this as a creative outlet that I enjoy, but there have been times when I just don’t feel like writing for whatever reason. If you don’t feel like it, don’t. Because there will be days when you do feel like it and you will! And the posts you do out of passion will be far more fantastic than those done by obligation.

Thank you again to She Dates for the nomination! And now for my nominations!!

My Fav Superbowl Dip (Buffalo Chicken).

Buffalo chicken dip. Combining two of the most eaten foods during football games- wings and dip! So this dip is amazing and completely husband tested and approved!!! And, it is super easy to make. I made it today and it didn’t quite make it to the game- gone already! But, it definitely will not do good things for the waste line, so use it as a treat for special occasions (like the superbowl!)!! Now presenting… Buffalo Chicken Dip!!

Love is in the Air.

This is the time of year when most Wisconsin-ites begin to get a little crazy. The cold, the wind, the snow… uhg, the ice scraping and the shoveling. Miserable. Every year this time, I ponder of why I actually continue to live here. All it would take is to pack up our things and we could settle somewhere where we would see the sun for more than 5 months out of the year.

But if there is one thing that the cold does do for us, well, it brings us closer to the ones we love! Cozy fireplaces and cuddling under thick knitted blankies, comfort food galore, and of course, some good movie/couch time! So, when all else in the world seems to be frozen over, grab a glass of wine and get cuddled up with the ones you love. So here’s to you babe!

X-Mas Cards!

Last Christmas was the first year that Ryley and I sent out Christmas cards together (as an engaged couple), but this year is our first official married couple card! Hooray! 🙂 And it helps that they are SO pretty! The envelopes are even gold lined! When we had the calligraphy done for our wedding stationary, we had the calligrapher make us a personal stamp with our home address on it, so we got to use this for the first time too! Such a nice personal touch! Links below.

The wedding photo on the card is by Emily Steffen Photography and was taken at The Barn at Harvest Moon Pond in Poynette, Wi. The gorgeous calligraphy stamp was created by Abany Bauer of Brown Linen Design. She did AMAZINGLY beautiful work for our wedding paper goods!

Merry and Bright!

“May your days be merry and bright!” Christmas is in full swing around here! We put up our decorations and now there is nothing better than sitting in the living room with a heavy knit throw, a toasty fire in the fireplace, and lights, lights, lights! The cold weather makes me crave nummy cocoa and of course, turkey with the fixins’!

Ahhhh… The holidays! 🙂 I took all of these photos in my house! The big turkey, mashed tatoes, stuffing, and green bean casserole we made after Thanksgiving because we just couldn’t get enough! This was actually my first time making a turkey and Ryley’s first time carving one!

“And may all your Christmases be white!”

My Fur Child.

Sometimes I feel bad that I am gone so much and not able to spend as much time with my puppy as I wish I could. My husband would tell you that he feels bad about it too. But as far as I know, most people would find me psychologically insane if I were to quit my job to become a stay-at-home-dog-mom… my secret dream job! 😉 So this post is just about him- my fur child!

Visit to Family Farm.

Life has a way of making time fly by when you are busy doing things you love, and crawl when you have a distaste for your surroundings. Lately, life has been flying. It was just finally last week when my husband and I made it back to visit his family on their farm in Shullsburg, Wi. The farm has been owned by his grandfather and his father for many years and is particularly special because each time we go back, we find nothing but the love and warmth that comes from laughing with family. This is one of the most BEAUTIFUL times of year to go back and visit because the animals are lively, the corn stalks are a beautiful golden brown, the autumn air is crisp, and that makes cozying up with our loved ones even more fun!
